    The scary thing about this question is that the digital world also permits us to try on multiple identities. What if I want MOST of my life to be under the Chris Brogan brand, but want some kind of outlet? Maybe it's the same as a small town, where I can't hide anything.

    If you were from a small town (as I have occasionally lived in over the years), you'll know that every sin you ever committed is forever part of the town's lore, even the sins of youth and silliness. Writ larger, PARENTS do a great job of reminding us about the things we USED to say defined us.

    It's certainly something I should consider, but then, I try my best these days to be the same me, even if I'm presenting the silly me. I'd wear a Free Hugs shirt to meet Bill Gates. : )

    It is very much like a small town that remembers your past. Google's cache is exceptionally powerful like that. That's why if you're going to try on a new digital identity, be sure to keep it separate from your existing one entirely.
