Definition: an RSS scraper is any web site that copies your RSS feed - your blog posts, your podcast show notes, etc. - and presents it on their site to appear to be original content.

  • Excellent post. Very practical ideas. Ultimately I'd like to get some of the dollars these scrapers make off selling ads linked to my stuff but I know how likely that is to happen. (I wrote about this topic as well in http://www.ddmcd.com/different.html.)

    A little pointer on the aLinks plugin - the latest beta of Windows Live Writer provides the same functionality without needing any extensions. Very useful.
  • nice idea but many feed thieves will run content through strip_tags() or some equivalent function and your links back are gone :(
