Twitter has Pulver-ized me. Time to move to Plurk?

Started by Christopher S. Penn · 5 months ago

Well, Twitter has flipped me the bird.
When I sent in a support request, asking what this was about, a few folks pointed me to a wiki talking about rate limiting - i.e. preventing certain actions for a period of time, like queries to the API.

However, after 4 days, things didn’t get better, so I opened [...]SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: ... Continue reading »

  • Hey Chris
Ive also reached the 5000 person limit on Facebook. Its interesting that Jeff has opened another page. I actually talked to the Facebook folks about that (I was surprised at how good they are at responding to emails) and they warned me strongly about it being a violation and to use my Facebook Musicians Page instead.
    Question:
do any of us really need to follow more than 2000 people on Twitter? Thats a lot of noise:)
  • You are kidding?
So if I had mass-followed people 3 days ago, my limit would be maybe 3-4k but now, despite my always having maintained a 1-to-1 ratio and been a strong Twitter supporter, I have to CHOOSE between followers?
    That's outrageous.
And if it's true - it will only serve to hurt Twitter - because I have no reason to use a service that won't let me interact with people w/o telling them that some of them aren't "as important" as others.

I'm not a big plurk fan tho.
I'll either be on identi.ca or given my preference Kwippy.com - which has given me unlimited invites and let's me thread comments.
  • Wow.. one wonder's who's making the decisions over there.. can you imagine the meeting where this decision took place?: "yeah, lets take the folks with the most followers, and there for perhaps the most influence, and push them away from our site.. at a time when everyone in the world is getting frustrated with our service, and there's a huge rise of upstarts nipping at our heals... I'm sure no one will follow them and leave our service."

Well one thing is for sure, myspace will never over take friend.. err, can't even remember what that site was called!

I'm thinking frank zappa must have been onto something when he suggested that stupidity is a more common element in the universe then hydrogen.
